Marcia Stevenson Abbate hails from an artistic family of the same Stevenson lineage as Roberts Louis Stevenson. She studied art at Ohio State University where she received her B.S. and M.A. She has considerable drawing and painting experience with a wide variety of subjects, but her true passion is capturing the essence of life in portraits.
“Although I enjoy working with a great variety of subject matter, I consider myself primarily a portrait artist. I believe that is where my passion and true gifts lie. People and animals have always been my favorite subjects, and I love exploring the little nuances and details necessary for a truly accurate and alive portrait,” says the artist.  Marcia feels that she gets to know each of her subjects quite personally while working on a portrait. “Although I am working to capture an extreme likeness with a great propensity for detail, my ultimate goal in producing a portrait is to reflect the spirit of each subject and bring it to life. That, I find, is truly rewarding.” Her clients are quick to recognize this. “Oh, you really captured him/her!” is one of her most heard and most appreciated comments.
Marcia Stevenson Abbate’s work has been featured in local, national, and international exhibits and has garnered her numerous awards. She resides in Palmdale, California.
